You can now use your mobile GPRS data connection to send cheaper text
messages. With your cell phone web browser, visit:
http://www.m1.be/mobile
You will be
prompted for 1. your number, 2. your password, 3. the recipient's number,
and 4. the message. You can save time and data usage by putting your
number and/or password in the URL and then bookmarking it in your phone.
Use the following format: http://www.m1.be/mobile/?from=xxxxxxxx&pass=xxxxx
There are inherent risks in putting your password in the URL, mainly if
you lost your phone and the link was bookmarked. If you use this option we
recommend you change your password often. Or at least just use
http://www.m1.be/mobile/?from=xxxxxxxx
so that you don't have to always write in your own mobile number. As a
further time savings, you can bookmark URLs with the destination number
set. For example if you text one or a few people often, you can save a
bookmark for each. For example:
http://www.m1.be/mobile/?to=xxxxxxx Ideally you would save a bookmark
with all 3 inputs already in the URL:
http://www.m1.be/mobile/?from=xxxxxxxx&pass=xxxxx&to=xxxxx
You can preset any or all of these 3 variables....whatever is convenient for
you. The one thing you can't preset is the message itself. If you use this
while roaming, check with your mobile company to see what their
roaming data rates are. They vary for each network in each
country. And also check what the minimum usage is. Many networks
charge per each kilobyte. But some bloodsucking mobile
networks charge by the 100 kb. This service is NOT cost effective if you
have to pay 100 kb data for 1 message. Choose your roaming network
carefully. |
